1. Have Regular Dental Checkups

There is an old wives' tale that all dental work during pregnancy is dangerous. While certain non-essential procedures are best left until after the birth, it is very important to have regular dental checkups and get treatment for cavities. Be sure to let your dentist know that you are pregnant so they can give you appropriate care.

2. Learn to Recognise Pregnancy Gingivitis

Pregnancy gingivitis is a condition that involves swelling and soreness in the gums during pregnancy. It is very common and can lead to gum disease if you do not get treatment from a dentist.

One of the most obvious signs of pregnancy gingivitis is your gums bleeding when you floss or brush your teeth. You might also have a higher-than-usual level of sensitivity in your gums. Be sure to see a dentist if you notice these signs so you can get treatment.
